The Challenges
When Injection Molding Reaches Its Economic Limits
Injection molding is a proven process—but it is not always the most economically viable solution in every project phase. This is especially true when time, flexibility, and investment security are critical factors.
High Tooling Costs
Injection molding usually requires high investments in complex tools – long before the final quantity is secured. This ties up capital and increases the economic project risk.
Long Lead Times
Tool design, manufacturing, and sampling significantly extend time-to-market. Especially with tight project schedules, this can lead to critical delays.
Limited flexibility for changes
Constructive adjustments after toolmaking cause additional costs. During ongoing development, every change quickly becomes economically problematic.
Uncertain production volumes
In early project phases, sales volumes are often not yet precisely calculable. However, a classic tool only pays off with clearly defined series sizes.
The Alternative to Traditional Molding Tools
Hybrid housings through a targeted combination of processes
Not every project requires a classic injection molding tool. The decisive factor is which method is technically and economically sensible in your current project phase.
At KT Kunststofftechnik, we analyze requirements, quantities, and timeframes and combine manufacturing processes so that your housing can be realized faster, more flexibly, and more cost-effectively.

Our manufacturing processes
The right technology for every project phase
Not every enclosure requires the same approach. The key factors are the stage of development, production volume, budget, and likelihood of changes. We selectively employ different technologies—either individually or in combination—to deliver the most cost-effective solution for your project.
FBS – Milling / Bending / Welding
CNC-machined components are bent and permanently bonded together using a chemical process. This method is particularly well-suited for small and medium-sized production runs, as well as for projects that are likely to undergo frequent changes.
Hybrid solution using injection molding, thermoforming, or 3D printing:
Injection molding
Injection molding offers a high degree of design flexibility and low unit costs for large production runs. This requires the manufacture of molds.
Hybrid solution with FBS:
Thermoforming
Deep drawing is particularly well-suited for large-surface-area housing bodies with uniform wall thickness. Tooling costs are lower than those for conventional injection molding.
Hybrid solution with FBS:
Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing
Additive manufacturing allows prototypes and small production runs to be produced quickly. It offers a high degree of design freedom.

Contact Us
Here's how we'll get your project off the ground together
01
Submit request
Please send us your sketch, description, or CAD data. Even initial ideas or general specifications are sufficient for us to provide an estimate.
02
Technical Coordination
During a personal meeting, we will discuss your requirements, quantities, budget, and timeline, and work together to define a practical approach.
03
Quote & Project Launch
You will receive a detailed, non-binding quote. Once you approve it, we will begin development, prototype production, or mass production.
Your benefits at a glance
Cost-effective enclosure solutions
Our approach combines technical feasibility with economic soundness. The result is not just a functional enclosure—but a solution that provides long-term security for your project.
Greater planning certainty
You can realistically assess investments and unit costs at an early stage. This provides you with a reliable basis for your project decision.
Lower investment risk
Tools are used only where they make economic sense. This keeps initial costs manageable and predictable.
Shorter development times
Combining the right processes shortens lead times. Your project will reach production readiness faster.
High flexibility for changes
Design modifications can also be implemented cost-effectively at a later stage. This increases reliability when it comes to technical advancements.
About Us
Experience that ensures projects make it to production
Since 1999, we have been supporting companies in the industrial and electronics sectors with the development and manufacture of custom plastic enclosures. Our goal is to combine technical feasibility with economic efficiency.
As a process-independent manufacturing partner, we are not limited to a single manufacturing process. This allows us to evaluate projects objectively and implement the most appropriate solution for each case—from design through to series production.
Quality & Certification
Our processes are certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 14001. This ensures structured procedures, documented quality, and responsible conduct.
Personalized support
You will work with dedicated contacts who will guide your project from the initial inquiry through to mass production. Clear communication and technical transparency are always our top priorities.
